Getting Started…
Owning a business is like owning your first home, or having your first kid and quickly realizing it's a second full time job - only at this job you're responsible for literally everything. The first step is making the decision to commit. Sometimes its the hardest part of the job. Committing to the success, and yes it's a two way street. You have to commit to your success equal to the business'. Most first time business owners do not succeed because they cannot commit or they don't know how... Often they believe their success and the success of the business are separate but, when you're the owner there is no separation. Your success is the business' success and vice versa. They are a reflection of one another. Once this was understood, I knew this was more than just another project - it was going to be a journey. This was more than just "once we get started" and it is going to be huge. Committing to Northeast Brands really gave life to that perspective in highlight and into reality.
Chandler and I started collaborating on Northeast Brands in the early summer of 2025. Him and I have played around with tons of ideas regarding different business' throughout our entire careers together, and our entire relationship really. We've always worked good together in the eyes of the public, so it seemed like a no brainer for us to get into business together... We are still in the early stages, but we are doing the necessary ground work. SEO and Analytics. Deciding on a primary logo. Website layout and foundation. Advertising strategies. Everything. I wasn't kidding when I mentioned earlier that you are responsible for literally everything. It's a lot, and so much more than typically anticipated! The commitment is 100% showing up for yourself and 100% committing to making it happen. Applied action is probably the second hardest part in getting started... Taking the extra courses to help expand your knowledge and expertise. Making sure your website analytics are in alignment before launching. Building a strong foundation and having good bones, something solid to start with and knowing your target audience before you even engage with them in real time in order to anticipate their needs is real serious stuff, and extremely important! It is one of your main keys to success. You have to be ready to commit.
Overall, I can happily admit I am thrilled to not be alone having to figure all of this out in having to navigate a censored digital algorithm amongst a political society. Sure, collaboration comes with it's own learning curves, but at least you have a shoulder to cry on if it ever got that bad. Its not even that scary once you get started! You always have to try to succeed before you can say you’ve failed and there's so much more to it all, but this pretty much sums it up!
Thank you for your time and energy in reading this and I hope there was something of value you’ll take with you from it.
